Motorola announced a while ago that Droid Ultra, Droid Maxx, and Droid Mini will skip the Android 4.4.3 and get update straight to Android 4.4.4 KitKat. If you are part of the Motorola Feedback Network and you happen to own a Droid Mini, you should keep an eye on the notification bar as the Android 4.4.4 OTA update is now rolling out.
For the time being, the Droid Mini Android 4.4.4 OTA update is rolled out exclusively for the members of the Motorola Feedback Network, but it should be released for public use in a few days after the soak tests are over.
The Android 4.4.4 update for Droid Mini is not a major update. The first thing you should notice are the new Phone app with card-based interface and new color scheme for the dialer and the redesigned People app. The Android 4.4.4 update for Droid Mini also arrives with improved camera quality, support for Isis Wallet, and enhanced Visual Voicemail. These are the only improvements brought by the new firmware, as other KitKat-specific changes such as transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, new Location menu, cloud printing, full screen album art in the lock screen, color emoji support, and immersive mode were patched in the Android 4.4 and Android 4.4.2 Droid Mini updates.
As you may know, once your Motorola Droid Mini becomes eligible to receive the Android 4.4.4 update you should be able to see a system update in the notification bar. Tap on it then follow the on-screen instructions. If the system update notification failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.
Are there any Motorola Droid Mini users reading this? Have you guys received the Android 4.4.4 update? Please let your fellow Droid Mini owners know in the comments section below.
