HTC has added a new smartphone to their line-up. Called HTC Desire 516, the new handset is the Taiwanese company’s response to Motorola Moto G and other affordable tablets. Desire 516 will be made available in select European countries next month.
According to HTC’s press release, the new Desire 516 will be made available in Austria and Switzerland at €199 (about $270) without contract, in either white or grey hues.
Because the Desire 516 aims to attract the customers in search of a budget smartphone, its technical specifications are worthy of a mid-range terminal. The new HTC smartphone features a 5-inch qHD (540 x 960) resolution display, quad-core Snapdragon 200 CPU, 1 GB of Ram, 4 GB of native storage, 5 MP primary camera, and 2 MP user-facing camera.
The main competitor of the Desire 516, Motorola’s Moto G has a starting price of $180 and packs a more powerful quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 8 GB storage, and a 4.5-inch higher-resolution display (1080 x 720). In terms of camera the Moto G packs a 5 MP rear-facing unit and a 1.3 MP user-facing sensor.
Furthermore, the HTC Desire 516 runs Android Jelly Bean out of the box, while the Moto G is upgradable to the latest Android version. Since Desire 516 comes pre-loaded with Jelly Bean, it means that you won’t be able to enjoy the latest version of HTC’s Sense UI.
The Taiwan-based phone maker also announced that the new, affordable Desire 516 will also be available on the Chinese and Indian markets. Are you buying?
