After the folks at Verizon rolled out the Android 4.4.2 update for several Droids, now we hear the kicked off the soak tests for Moto X Android 4.4.4 update. Several readers are telling Android Central that they are receiving soak test email notifications, so if you are a member of the Motorola Feedback Network you’d better keep an eye on your inbox.
Because the KitKat-specific goodies such as transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, immersive mode, cloud printing, color emoji support, new Location menu, or full screen album art in the lock screen were patched in the previous Android Kitkat updates for the device, the new Android 4.4.4 update for Moto X only brings a couple of notable changes like new Phone app with card based interface and revised color scheme for the dialer, new interface for the People app, and camera improvements.
As you may know, only the members of the Motorola Feedback Network will be able to participated in the Verizon Moto X Android 4.4.4 soak tests, but if everything goes according to plan, the new firmware update would be released for everybody else in a matter of days.
Once your Moto X becomes eligible to receive the new Android 4.4.4 update you should be able to see a system update message in the notification bar. Tap on it and follow the on-screen instructions. In case the system update notification failed to appear, you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.
Because Moto X will skip the Android 4.4.3 update and get upgraded straight to 4.4.4, the new size of the update file might exceed 500 MB, therefore we recommend you to use a stable WiFi network while downloading it in order to avoid unwanted data charges.
