Back in January we promised to show you the best Android apps on a weekly basis. Here we are, more than half a year later, and our Best Android Apps of the Week column is still up and running.
If you are new here, you should know that our Best Android Apps of the Week post features both new apps and were launched in Play Store over the past week and older apps that received noteworthy updates. Either way, we believe that each app featured here it’s worthy of your smartphone digest.
In the Best Android Apps of the Week post you will find both free and payed apps. Some of them might come with in-app purchases, but we will point that out if that’s the case.
Dolphin Browser Beta 11 – Free
Dolphin is one of the most popular Android web browsers, and, just like its Chrome and Firefox counterparts, it also has a Beta version that allows you to test unreleased features before they go public. Well, Dolphin Browser Beta has received a major update to version 11.
If you aren’t already a Dolphin Browser Beta tester, hear that you will first need to join their Google Plus community here, become a tester here, then download the Beta version from Google Play Store. You can also download the Dolphin APK from thisGoogle Plus post.
Version 11 introduces a brand new UI and improves the side bar with most used page options embedded, such as full screen, night mode, etc. It also comes with a redesigned bottom menu bar, more than 40 new themes, reorganized settings, and more. You can find the full changelog here.
Nova Launcher Beta 3.1 – Free
Nova Launcher Beta got updated to version 3.1 over the past week. Among others, you will get to enjoy some cool new transitions such as Circle reveal, slide up, zoom, or fade.
Anyway, the new Circle reveal animation is not compatible with all devices. The 3.1 update also introduces App Drawer search and fixes the inability to manually change app drawer icon.

Google Search – Free
Google Now is no doubt the most useful personal assistant around. As you may know, there’s a great symbiosis between Google Now and Google Search. Well, the latter app got an interesting update.
Google is now rolling out support for multiple simultaneous language selections in Voice Search. What does this mean? It means that you will be able to select several languages and Google Search will know which one you’re speaking into the mic. In order to enable the feature open Google Search go to Settings > Voice > Languages and pick your languages.
The new update is now being pushed to users, so check out if it arrived on your device. You can also check the Google Search app in Play Store for free at this link.
Sunrise Calendar 1.2 – Free
We’ve featured Sunrise Calendar when it debuted in Play Store in one of our Best Android Apps of the Week posts a while ago. Well, now we’re bringing it up again as it received a new update.
Sunrise Calendar received a bump to version 1.2 which introduces support for Exchange calendars. According to Sunrise Atelier, Inc, the developers of the app, this has been the most requested feature from the users.
Even though there are a ton of calendar apps available in Google Play Store, Sunrise Calendar stands out with its clean interface, solid widget, and plugins support. You can download it for free here.
Fragment – $1.99
If you don’t have enough photo editing apps on your smartphone, then you might want to check Fragment. Fragment is not about adding filters or text to your photos. It promises to make them abstract works of art.
Pixite LLC, the developers of the app, cal this prismatic art. But what does the app actually do? It tweaks your photos using shapes.
Fragment has a price of $1.99. If you want to give it a try you can grab it from Google Play Store at this link.
MediaFire 2.0 – Free
MediaFire has reached version 2.0. Among others, the new update makes MediaFire’s clean UI even cleaner.
According to the changelog, MediaFire 2.0 brings the capability to automatically back up your camera photos to the cloud and to stream music and videos form your collection. You will also be able to share documents and media directly from your mobile device.
You can download MediaFire 2.0 for free directly from Google Play Store here. You will get 12 GB of cloud storage for free, but you can also get 1 TB for $2.50 / month or $24.99 / year.
Carousel – Free
Carousel is a cool gallery app for your Drobox photos. Besides being quite popular, it also received a new update over the past week.
After the new update, Carousel allows you to quickly hide or delete groups of photos and videos, while the automatic photos and videos backup has become optional. Furthermore, it also received support for Android L and the ones you share photos and videos with no longer need Carusel view shared items.
