IFA 2014, the Berlin-based tech fair, will open its gates next week and the folks at LG will be there to show us their latest creations. In the meantime, the South Koreans decided it would be nice to show us their new LG G3 Stylus. As you may know from previous leaks, the LG G3 Stylus was rumored to be a competitor against Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Note 4. It’s not!
The first LG G3 Stylus leaks surfaced online a few weeks ago, when we learned that the device will be similar in design and size to the LG G3 flagship, but that it will arrive with a stylus. Now it’s official that the “latest G3 variant offers large display and stylus-enabled user experience at exceptional price.”
Of course, in order to make the G3 Stylus an affordable smartphone, the South Koreans had to downgrade the hardware of the LG G3, therefore placing the new stylus-enabled phone in the mid-range segment. Instead of the insane 1440 x 2560 5.5-inch screen of the G3, the LG G3 Stylus comes with a 5.5-inch IPS display with 960 x 540 resolution. It also comes with 1 GB RAM instead of 3 GB and 8 GB of native storage instead of 32 GB. Fortunately, it has microSD support.
The LG G3 Stylus is powered by an unnamed quad-core 1.3 GHz processor, features a 13 MP primary shooter, 1.3 MP user-facing camera, and 3,000 mAh battery. It’s 149.3 mm tall, 75.9 mm wide, 10.2 mm thin, and weighs in at 163 grams. It runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box.
LG officially revealed that the new G3 Stylus will debut on the Brazilian market in September, followed by debuts in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and CIS. It only has support for 3G network radio.
We are glad to announce you that the G3 Stylus mirrors some of the software features of the full G3. It comes with Dual Window (divides the screen in two for multi-tasking), Smart Keyboard (which has cusotmizable size), Gesture Shot, and Knock Code.
As I was mentioning above, LG will detail the G3 Stylus at IFA, as well, and we are sure that more details will be revealed at the tech fair. As for the price of the device, the company said it will be revealed for local markets at the time of launch.
