NVIDIA finally released the first official firmware update for the Shield Tablet. As you know, the device is running on a buggy ROM as numerous users reported various lags and problems while testing the stock software on a daily basis. So, if you want to improve your game experience along with general Android performances you should check for this highly expected OTA update which will bring the OS version up to 1.1.
Do note that you will be able to receive the notification only if your NVIDIA Shield Tablet runs on stock firmware. If you have installed a custom ROM software, then you will have to manually flash the official release. Also, by applying this update, root access (if you had ensured root on your tablet) will be revoked and for unlocking your device you will have to use a new root solution that is compatible with the 1.1 firmware version.
According the NVIDIA, this official update comes with great improvements along with important bug fixes and stability updates. Thus, the following enhancements are available:
- WiFi stability improvements in certain scenarios.
- Camera app updated.
- NVIDIA PRISM feature toggle.
- SHIELD Hub and Gamestream optimized.
- ShadowPlay performance optimizations.
- Localization improvements.
- Audio optimizations.
- Misc. stability improvements.
Therefore, don’t hesitate and download the new NVIDIA Shield Tablet update and test if a better software is available or not. Remember that you can anytime choose to root your tablet and install a custom recovery image on the same. Then you can try a custom ROM firmware in order to try something different and optimized especially for your device.
