All the leaks and rumors that surfaced online over the past couple of months indicated that the Huawei Ascend Mate 7, the successor of the Ascend Mate 2, will be officially introduced by the Chinese phone maker at IFA Berlin 2014. While we are sitting here wondering what happened to Ascend Mate 3, 4, 5, and 6, Huawei has sent out invites for a press event held September 4th.
It seems that the photos are from a PowerPoint presentation and some of them are hinting towards the release of the Ascend Mate 7, while others are just showing some neon cats. While the gear stick might suggest that the new smartphone manufactured by the Chinese OEM might be underpinned by an octo-core processor, both the safe and the photo of a fingerprint being scanned are suggesting that the new handset will arrive with biometric security. There’s also a photo of a smartphone that has a very slim, almost nonexistent screen bezel. But what’s the deal with those cats? Will the Ascend Mate 7 purr instead of vibrating? Will it integrate a laser pointer to allow users to interact with their cats? We can’t know for sure.
Unlike other smartphones for which the rumor mill painted an almost complete image, there’s not much known about the upcoming Huawei Ascend Mate 7. If the rumors prove accurate it will sport a 6-inch display while being underpinned by an octo-core Kirin 920 chipset manufactured by HiSilicon. It seems that it will also come with a 13 MP rear-mounted camera and a 5 MP selfie shooter. There are voices saying there will be two Ascend Mate 7 variants: one packing a 1080p screen and 2 GB of RAM and another one featuring a Quad HD screen and 3 GB of RAM.
Anyway, IFA 2014 is only a few weeks away and we are sure we will be able to tell you more about the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 after the Chinese OEM’s event at the Berlin-based tech fair. We will probably be able to find out what those cats really mean.
