If you happen to own T-Mobile’s Sony Xperia Z1s you should keep an eye on the notifications bar. According to the folks at Xperia Blog, the Sony Xperia Z1s Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA update is now being pushed to users.
The new Android 4.4.4 update for Sony Xperia Z1s has build number 14.4.B.0.37 and it should have a size of over 800 MB. Given the size of the update file are recommending you to use a stable WiFi network while downloading it to avoid unwanted data charges.
The Sony Xperia Z1s Android 4.4.4 OTA update arrives with KitKat-specific goodies such as transparent status and nav bars, white status bar icons, cloud printing, immersive mode, color emoji support, full screen album and movie art in the lock screen, along with updated native Sony apps, new boot animation/themes, and compatibily with Sony’s Smartband SWR10. It also arrives with support for Sony’s Lifelog app.
As you may know, once your Sony Xperia Z1s becomes eligible to receive the new firmware, you should be able to see a system update message in the notifications bar. Tap on it, choose download, wait until the download is completed, then choose install now. The smartphone will reboot and you should should be running Android 4.4.4 once the reboot is completed.
In case the Android 4.4.4 system update notification failed to appear you would also want to perform a manual check. In order to do so you must head to Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check for software updates. If this method doesn’t work either, it might mean that you will have to wait a few more days.
