It’s time for another edition of our Best Android Apps of the Week column. As you may know, this article aims to help you choose the best apps that are worthy to be installed on your smartphone or tablet.
You should know that in our Best Android Apps of Week column you will find new apps and older apps that received important updates. Some apps listed in this article are free, some may be payed apps, and other could have in-app purchases. We will specify whether you have to pay anything for each app, but you should also check yourself when installing it from Play Store.
As you may know from our previous Best Android Apps of the Week posts, we will also include Play Store download links for each app. Anyway, if you think of any app that we should have included in our list feel free to let us know in comments.
Microsoft Remote Desktop – Free
Microsoft has over 30 Android apps available for download in Google Play Store and Microsoft Remote Desktop is one of them. The company’s Remote Desktop Protocol client has received an important update last week.
Microsoft Remote Desktop has received official support for KitKat’s full-screen immersive mode, which makes a lot of sense given we’re looking at a remote computer viewer. Anyway, the new feature is only available for tablets and, of course, you will need to run KitKat 4.4+ to be able to enjoy it.

Vine 2.5 – Free
Vine is, no doubt, one of the most popular video sharing tools in the world. Last week, the Android app was updated to version 2.5.
Vine 2.5 introduces new camera tools that bring new ways to edit your videos along with the ability to preview videos of any length, upload a single video or mix and match to tell a story, or to undo the last recording. It also adds a new button that enables you to access your camera roll and Flashlight support for recording videos in low light.

Javelin Browser 4.1.3 – Free
There are a lot of web browsers available in Play Store and if, for some reason you don’t like Chrome, you should also check Javelin Browser. Now you will have one more reason to do it after the new update.
Javelin browser has an interesting interface boasting about some cool Material Design visual elements. The update to version 4.1.3 brings enhancements to Javelin syncing and bookmarks. Using this Chrome extension you will now be able to sync your bookmarks between your desktop and Javelin. You will also get a Speed Dial function on the home page and migrate your personal Javelin homepage to your desktop.

Today Calendar 2.1 – Free
If you need a replacement for Google’s Calendar app, then you should try Today Calendar. It’s a nice looking calendar especially now after the latest update.
Today Calendar 2.1 arrives with major interface improvements, now looking more like Google’s Android L. Besides the changes in terms of appearance, the new update also arrives with a plethora of bug fixes.
Today Calendar is free and it can be download from Play Store here. There’s also a Pro version available here which costs $1.64.
Avast Mobile Security and Antivirus – Free
Most Android users don’t need an antivirus on their phones or tablets. Anyway, if you know that you are browsing some suspicious websites and install a lot of APKs then Avast’s Mobile Security and Antivirus might come in handy.
Avast Mobile Security and Antivirus got updated, the new version arriving with UI tweaks and several bug fixes. You will be able to use it to scan APKs, URLs, and other files for threats.
Avast’s Android antivirus app is free, but you will bump across some in-app purchases. You can grab it from Play Store here.
Ready Contact List – Free
Because Android is highly customizable you even have the option to replace your contacts app. Ready Contact List aims to make your calls more efficient and it has a nice interface, too.
Ready allows you to easily add a meeting with a contact you just talked to and it can also remind you about your upcoming meetings with a contact when he/she is calling you. It has a sleek interface and customizable themes.
Ready Contact list is available for free, but for $2.99 you will get more themes, a predictive dialer, more ringtones and no ads. You can download it from Google Play Store here.
