Best Android Apps of the September Week
It’s Monday again and this means that we are ready to bring you another round of our Best Android Apps of the Week column. Even though the past week has been full of smartphone, tablet, and smartwatch launches there where enough interesting apps that debuted in Google Play Store.
As you may know, in the Best Android Apps of the Week post you will be able to find both new and older apps which received noteworthy updates. Some of the apps are free, others may require you to pay a fee in order to be able to install them. Others, may have in-app purchases. Either way, we will give you a heads-up.
Facebook Messenger – Free
Facebook Messenger is no doubt one of the most popular apps available in Google Play store. Despite having some suspicious privacy rules, over 500 million users have it installed on their Android phones and tablets.
Earlier last week, Facebook Messenger has received support for Android Wear and video uploads, but a new update is now rolling out. It adds the ability to add text or doodle on the photos you add to the conversation.

Flickr 3.1.2 – Free
Flickr has received a new update that brings it to version 3.1.2. Want to know what changes it brings? Have a look below.
Flickr 3.1.2 now allows users to search photos, albums, groups, and people you follow. You will also be able to edit your cover photo directly from your phone, to edit description, website, cover photo on tablet, or to crop photos before uploading. It has also received HTC BlinkFeed support and various bug fixes and performance improvements.

Firefox 32 – Free
Mozilla’s Firefox got a pretty big update last week. The new update brings it to version 32 and it adds various new features and improvements.
Firefox 32 adds sync registration from tabs tray, the ability to clear history from history panel, redesigned Top Sites panel, and Gamepad API. It also brings support for 7 new languages, while the devices running Android 2.2 and ARMv6 processors are no longer supported.

HomeTube – Free / $0.99
YouTube is a great destination for watching videos, but many of them aren’t suited for your kids. HomeTube aims to address this issue.
The app is capable of searching videos on YouTube and show results based on the criteria you choose. You can even set HomeTube as launcher so your kid won’t jump into another app.
HomeTube is available for download for free in Google Play Store. Anyway, if you want full functionality you will have to pay for a $0.99 in-app purchase.
GameStop – Free
If you are a GameStop customer you’ve probably heard about their dedicated Android app. If you haven’t hear that you can find it and download it for free from Google Play Store at this link.
The GameStop Android app has received an important update last week. Besides bug fixes and other improvements, the new update brings a Holofied interface that is now focusing on the customer’s profile. The Trade Center has been revamped and it shows how much trade-in credit you can get on your old games, and the changes don’t stop here.
If you log in with a PowerUp account the app will show what rewards you have acquired so far. The users who updated to the new GameStop version are reporting that the app is now considerably faster.
SwiftKey – Free
SwiftKey is in my opinion the best Android keyboard. It’s fast, it’s accurate, and it looks great. In fact, these are the reasons why I use it as my daily driver. Well, the update to version 5.0.3.21 just made it even better.
The new SwiftKey update arrives with improved load time and memory management on the keyboard, improved memory management in the SwiftKey Store, and fixes for memory and crash issues for Samsung devices. It also brings fixes for background theme crashes in store, for Evernote personalization, and other bug fixes and performance improvements.
As I was mentioning above, SwiftKey is free. Anyway, if you want extra themes will have to buy them via in-app purchases. Here’s the Google Play Store link.
Evernote 6 – Free
Evernote is one of the most popular note-taking apps in Google Play Store. The app just got updated to version 6 which brings a lot of changes and improvements.
The first thing you’ll notice about Evernote 6 is the fresh look it received. You should also notice the new round green + button that allows you to crate different types of notes. The new update also arrives with simpler navigation, cleaner layout, shape recognition for handwriting, and other bug fixes and improvements.

Chrome 37 – Free
Chrome is undoubtedly the most popular web browser. After the Beta version got the v37 update, the same update is now being rolled out for the standard version of Chrome.
This is the biggest update in terms of UI Chrome received in ages. As you may see for yourself it emulates the Android L Material Design philosophy. A lot of its aesthetics received dramatic makeovers and if you sign in to Chrome you will also be automatically signed in to other Google sites.
In order to be able to install Chrome 37 on your Android device you will need to run ICS 4.0 or later. You can download it for free from Play Store here.
Pocket 5.6 – Free
Pocket represents a nice alternative for when you want to read cluttered web pages in a readable format. Well, it just got updated to version 5.6.
After you update to Pocket 5.6 you will be able to set a limit to how much storage the app can use. You should also know that the new update brings various fixes and improvements. Furthermore, sharing to Evernote includes images and rich text.
