IFA 2014: Acer announces Iconia Tab 10, Iconia One 8 and Liquid Z500

Acer just announced its new Android product range at IFA 2014 in Berlin – Two Iconia tablets and a Liquid smartphone. All the three products will come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, although the exact version hasn’t been specified.

The Iconia Tab 10 is being marketed by Acer as the ultimate entertainment experience device. The tablet comes with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound technology and two built-in stereo speakers. The screen measures 10.1 inches diagonally and comes with Full HD 1920 x 1080 resolution with zero air gap and IPS technology. There is also an anti-fingerprint coating on top of the screen to reduce smudges and make the screen easier to clean. There is also Corning Gorilla glass protection. It runs on a quad-core MediaTek processor (exact model not know) and also comes with a micro HDMI port and Wireless Display capabilities for easy sharing of content.

The Iconia One 8 comes with an 8 inch screen with 1280 x 800 HD resolution using the same zero air gap IPS technology as its 10 inch sibling. The tablet is only 8.5mm thin and weighs less than 340 grams. Powering the One 8 is the Intel Atom Z3735G quad-core processor. The tablet comes in 10 colors and a textured pattern on the back with anti-slip finish. The colors offered are Jade Green, Sunshine Yellow, Vivid Orange, Sky Blue, Essential White, Midnight Black, Fragrant Pink, Violet Purple, Mia Blue and Garnet Red.

The lone smartphone announced today was the Liquid Z500 which is aimed at all the music lovers out there. The smartphone supports playback of CD quality lossless music files. There are also HD front speakers on the phone which deliver a high quality sound and also support DTS Studio Sound feature. For enjoying videos on the go, the Z500 comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display with a claimed contrast ratio figure of 900:1. The camera is also being promoted by Acer as a great shooter with 8MP resolution and F2.0 aperture. Acer is using its Bright Magic technology to deliver bright photos even under low light by boosting the brightness and reducing noise at the same time. The smartphone is quite slim at 8.65mm and comes in three color options – Titanium Black, Sandy Silver and Aquamarine Green.

Asus has also provided information on pricing and availability of the three devices. The Iconia Tab 10 will be available from this month onwards in Europe, Middle East, and Asia at about 199 euros. The US pricing for the tablet will be $199. The Iconia One 8 will be available from October at a starting price of 149 euros.

The Z500 is meant only for Europe, Middle East and Asia, priced at 149 euros. It will be available for purchase from this month.
