Along with the ZenWatch Android Wear smartwatch, Asus also introduced the MeMO Pad 7 mini tablet. The MeMO Pad 7 is being marketed as a thin and stylish 7 inch tablet that brings features more commonly found in the bigger 10 inch sized tablets.
The design of the Asus MeMO Pad 7 is inspired from a clutch-bag and is made out of premium materials with eye-catching color options including Rose Champagne, Gentle Black and Burgundy Red. In terms of the hardware specs it comes packed with an Intel Atom Z3560 1,83GHz Quad-Core 64-bit chipset with IMG PowerVR Series 6 G6430 GPU, 2GB RAM, 16 or 32GB internal storage, 5 megapixel rear camera with Asus PixelMaster technology that boosts low light sensitivity and 720p video recording, front 2MP selfie camera, 15Wh Li-polymer battery, and LTE Cat.4 connectivity option in the 4G models. The display is a 7 inch 1920 x 1200 WUXGA IPS panel with an anti-fingerprint coating on top. You also get two stereo speakers with SonicMaster technology for an immersive audio experience on the go. If you’re worried about being limited to the 16/32GB internal storage, you don’t need to worry as it does come with a microSD card slot so you can add additional memory later. The dimensions of the devices are 114.4 x 200 x 8.3 mm. Definitely not the most compact 7 inch tablet out there, but you do get quite a lot of processing power under the hood. It weighs about 279 grams, so carrying it around isn’t going to be difficult.
Asus is also promoting its cloud storage service – Asus Webstorage offering 5GB of cloud storage free with purchase and additional 11GB for the first year. The tablet comes with Android 4.4.4 out of the box and supports the Asus ZenUI. Asus claims pretty good battery life for the device at 11 hours of web browsing and video playback.Few accessories have been announced for the tablet so far – a carry me cover with a patterned finish and two-way adjustable strap, a folio cover to prop the tablet up to an ideal height, a micro USB charging stand, and EB50N NFC headset.
No information has been released by Asus with regards to the availability yet, but we expect it to be available by the end of next month.
