Even though IFA 2014 will open its gates for the public in a couple of days, many of the tech companies that are attending the Berlin-based event are already unveiling their new products. Lenovo is one of those companies and they just introduced a new tablet, the Tab S8. Even though the Lenovo Tab S8 is not the most powerful tablet around it brings interesting technical specifications and an even more interesting price tag. The new Lenovo 8-incher can be fitted in the mid-range segment and the Chinese company is suggesting a retail price of $199.
The Lenovo Tab S8 arrives with an 8-inch IPS screen with 1920 x 1200 resolution with 16:10 aspect ratio. The processing tasks are handled by an Intel-made chipset. The Z3745 SoC is based on a quad-core 1.86 GHz CPU, mated with 2 GB of RAM. The tablet also arrives with 16 GB of internal storage and, unfortunately, it doesn’t have support for microSD card expansion. On the front panel you will be able to notice two stereo speakers and a 1.6 MP secondary cam. The rear panel accommodates an 8 MP main shooter with F2.2 lens. The good news is that the new slate is running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, of course, customized with Lenovo’s proprietary interface. It’s 209.8 mm tall, 123.8 mm wide, and 7.9 mm thin, while weighing 299 grams.
The China-based tablet maker officially revealed that the new Lenovo Tab S8 will debut at major retailers later this months. With specs like these and a price point of $199, I am pretty sure that it will sell pretty well. It’s also worth mentioning that the new tablet will be available in black, white, blue, and yellow, but the colors may be market dependent. The specs sheet also mentions of a 3G/LTE variant of the Tab S8, but don’t hold your breath on it arriving on the US market.
