IFA 2014: Samsung Unveils Galaxy Note 4 With 5.7-inch Quad HD Screen, Snapdragon 805 CPU, and 16 MP Camera with OIS
The highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is here. The South Korean phone maker has finally introduced their latest and greatest phablet after months of rumors and speculations. As expected the new handset was introduced during Samsung’s Unpacked 2 event.
Most of the rumors that surfaced online over the past couple of months were confirmed at Samsung’s press conference. The new Galaxy Note 4 arrives with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution, while being similar in size with its predecessor. Note 4 measures 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm, while weighing in at 176 grams.
Just like it was previously speculated, the Galaxy Note 4 will be available in two, market dependent variants. One is powered by a quad-core 2.7 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor, while the other has a 64-bit enabled octo-core Exynos 5433 chipset with quad-core 1.9 GHz Cortex A57 and quad-core 1.3 GHz Cortex A53 CPUs. Anyway, both variants arrive with 3 GB of RAM, 32 GB storage, and microSD slot that supports up 64 GB cards.
The smartphone is running Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, of course customized with Samsung’s proprietary skin. In the software compartment you will be able to find features like Multi Window, Ultra Power Saving Mode, Download Booster, S Health 3.5, Dynamic Lock Screen, and Briefing, along with S Pen-optimized features such as Air Command (Action Memo, Smart Select, Image Clip, Screen Write), S Note, Snap Note, or Direct Pen Input.
Just like the Galaxy Alpha, the Galaxy Note 4 arrives with a metallic frame around the edges and a soft touch plastic back. On the rear panel you will be able to find a 16 MP primary camera with optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus, LED flash, Dual Shot, Simultaneous HD video and image recording, geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, image stabilization, panorama, HDR, and support for 4K video recording. The front panel is accommodating an impressive 3.7 MP shooter with Wide Selfie panorama mode.
Just like the Galaxy S5, Note 4 arrives with both a fingerprint scanner and a heart rate monitor. Furthermore it also brings an UV and SpO2 sensors. The device has a Li-Ion 3,220 mAh battery with enhanced with Fast Charging function, which allows you to get from 0 to 50% in about 30 minutes.
Samsung failed to announce the pricing of the new Galaxy Note 4, but they revealed they will be releasing it on select markets in October.
