The Paranoid Android team released the PA 4.6 Beta 1 update early September and even though they used to release Beta builds every week, it took them more than three weeks to release the Beta 2 build. The Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 2 update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10 and other supported devices is now available for download, and, as usual it’s meant to improve the user experience.
Soon after Google announced Android L, the PA team revealed they will be integrating some of the Android L aesthetics in their new builds. While Paranoid Android 4.5 introduced the new card-based Android L recents screen, Paranoid Android 4.6 arrives with the Android L-specific Dynamic Status Bar. PA’s official blog reveals that the Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 2 update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 arrives with improved graphical performance, changes for CM’s Theme Engine, fixes for lock screen track information, reduced DSB screen polling, and cleaner DSB animations. It also arrives with updates for the OPO drivers and adds USB on-the-go support for Nexus 7 2013.
I installed the Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 2 update on my Nexus 5 this morning and didn’t notice any issues until know. No unusual battery drains, no force closes, or annoying bugs, so you shouldn’t be too scared of the “Beta” label.
Besides the Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 2 update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10, the PA team also released new builds for other supported devices such as One Plus One, Oppo Find 5, Oppo Find 7, Opp N1, or Galaxy Nexus. You will be able to find the newest builds for the aforementioned devices on Paranoid Android’s download pagehere.
If you are familiar with flashing custom ROMs on your Android device, installing Paranoid Android 4.6 Beta 2 shouldn’t be a problem to you. After you have successfully unlocked the bootloader (where necessary), rooted your phone / tablet, and flashed a custom recovery, you will have to download the PA 4.6 Beta 2 and Gapps from here andhere, respectively.
