Sprint has announced earlier today that their Samsung Galaxy S5 will get the official Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA update, but there isn’t an official release date set just yet. This new firmware version should arrive by the end of this month surely, so you should stick by your Galaxy S5 Sprint notification panel and be one of the first to learn about the official release date.
The Android 4.4.4 KitKat OTA Update wasn’t planned by Samsung, but it seems like the US carriers are looking to release it for the latest Galaxy S5 device. Since the Android L update is being readied by Google and the Android 4.4.4 KitKat might be officially rolled out by Samsung and Sprint in the same time period, that means that the KitKat 4.4.4 release will push the future Android L update for Galaxy S5 Sprint even further. Hopefully we should see the Android L Update released by the end of this year for all Samsung Galaxy S5 devices.
Android 4.4.4 KitKat firmware update should feature some security patches and some other enhancements and tweaks that should improve the overall performance of your Galaxy S5 Sprint. All the other non-Samsung devices that have already gotten updated to Android 4.4.4 didn’t get any major changes besides the revamped Dialer app. However, the new Dialer might not be released for Samsung devices, we will learn more about that when the update hits the Sprint Galaxy S5 device.
Tell us in comments if you will get the new KitKat 4.4.4 firmware released for your Sprint Galaxy S5. This new firmware is currently present on the Samsung Galaxy S5 LTE-A device and all the other Samsung phones should follow soon enough. Keep in mind that this update will not be too big in size and it will be rolled out in phases at first. Also, it will only be rolled out for stock Sprint Samsung Galaxy S5 devices.
