CyanogenMode is no doubt on of the most popular custom ROMs for Android phones. The CM team is working restlessly to expand the CM 11 support for new devices and we are glad to announce you that two new Samsung smartphones just received the first CM 11 nightlies.
One of them is the Samsung Galaxy S5 G900T. This particular model is sold through T-Mobile, but certain markets got it as a standard unlocked phone due to its compatibility to LTE 1/2/3/5/7/8/4/17 bands. For what it’s worth, the Galaxy S5 us powered by a Snapdragon 801 processor, a unit that is usually preferred by Samsung on the markets with no compatibility for the LTE bands of their in-house Exynos SoC. On Cyanogenmod’s download page you will be able to find the Samsung Galaxy S5 G900T labeled as “klte.” You can download the CM 11 nightly build for the said device here.
The other model is i9506, a Samsung Galaxy S4 variant that was launched months after the debut of the standard S4, with added LTE-A support and a Snapdragon 800 processor. I’m not sure whether the Galaxy S4 LTE-A i9506 went on sale on the US market, but if you happen to own this particular model, you should check out the first Android 4.4.4-based CM 11 builds. On Cyanogenmod’s download page you will be able to find the Galaxy S4 LTE-A as “ks01lte.” Click this link to go to the CM11 nightly download page.
If you are familiar with flashing custom ROMs, then it would be fairly easy for you to install CM 11 on your Galaxy S5 or Galaxy S4 LTE-A. After you have successfully unlocked the bootloader, gained root access, and installed a custom recovery, you will have to download CM 11 nightly from the aforementioned sources and Gapps fromhere and copy both files on your device. Boot into recovery mode, choose “Install ZIP from SD card,” navigate to the location where you copied CM 11 and Gapps, and flash them like you would any other ZIP. After the installation is complete, perform a factory reset, wipe cache (just in case), then reboot. Now you should be running CM 11 on your device.
If you have no idea what you’re doing, do not proceed with the installation. Tutorials that will teach you how to flash CM 11 nightly on Galaxy S5 / Galaxy S4 LTE-A will be available on our website soon. Return to this post in a couple of hours as it will get updated with links to the said tutorials.
