Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, and Xperia Z1 Compact Officially Confirmed
The folks at Sony have revealed their plans regarding the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. We are glad to announce you that all the Z1 series smartphones will get updated to the new Android version, as confirmed by Sony on their blog.
Sony also revealed that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, and Xperia Z1 Compact will start rolling out sometime next year, without mentioning the exact date. Anyway, they did mention that Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 will be the first devices to get the new update, early 2015, followed by other members of the Xperia Z tribe. As usual, the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for Sony Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, and Xperia Z1 Compact will be rolled out in phases which means that some might have to wait longer than others. The unlocked variants of the aforementioned devices will get updated to the new firmware first, followed by the carrier-branded variants. As you may know, the carriers are usually taking their time when it comes to releasing new firmware updates in order to properly test them on the network.
Android 5.0 Lollipop is a major update so you have real reasons to eagerly anticipate it.
