Android L On Samsung Galaxy S5 Demoed on Video
Back in June, at Google I/O 2014, the Mountain View-based company officially announced Android L, the biggest update Android has seen since its debut back in 2008. For the time being, Android L is only available for testing purposes as Developer Preview and no one knows exactly when the new update will be rolled out to the public.
Of course, the members of the Nexus tribe will be the first to receive the Android 5.0 L update, while Samsung is expected to bring the new Android version on Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4 sometime late November or early December. Or at least that’s what a report that surfaced mid-September is claiming. In the meantime, the folks atSammobile have posted a video of Android L running on a Samsung Galaxy S5.
One of Sammobile’s sources has provided them with an Android L test build for Samsung Galaxy S5 G900F and, according to them, it’s quite buggy and slow. Not that we would have expected anything different from an early test build. For what it’s worth, the Android L build has version number LRW58J.
Just like we expected, the Galaxy S5 Android L build was customized by the South Korean company with their proprietary TouchWiz UI skin. The good news is that the UI has received a makeover that follows the guidelines of Material Design. As you can see in the video bellow, most of the Samsung native apps (Dialer, Messages, Memo, Clock, you name it) have been redesigned, but they look far from being ready for prime-time.
Samsung’s Android L build also brings Lock Screen notifications. However, it looks like while in stock Android you can have up to four notifications in the lock screen, TouchWiz is limited to two. It’s also worth noting that you will also be able to choose what apps show notifications in lock screen and to limit the content displayed in the lock screen notifications. Here’s the video of the Galaxy S5 running Android L. For more photos and information feel free to pay a visit to Sammobile.
