Apple announces release details and pricing for OS X Yosemite
New iPads are great and new Mac computers are nice, but truth be told, we’re far more excited about upgrading the Apple gear we already have with the latest and greatest software. Apple has been travelling a somewhat bumpy road lately with iOS, but the brand new version of its desktop platform OS X should be plenty stable after three different Gold Master releases in recent weeks. And now, we know exactly when we can finally get our hands on OS X Yosemite.
During its big press conference on Thursday, Apple announced that OS X Yosemite will be released to the public on Monday. The major desktop OS update will be available as a download in the Mac App Store, and it will be completely free!
Yosemite packs tons of new features beneath its huge design overhaul, but the most exciting among them has to be Apple’s new Continuity features, which provide tight integration between OS X computers and iOS devices. With Continuity, a user can see iPhone notifications on his or her desktop, send and receive SMS, quickly move files between devices and plenty more.
Tons of Apple’s in-built OS X apps have received big updates as well, so you’ll definitely want to update to Yosemite as soon as the download becomes available.
