Best Android Apps of the Week: Androidify 2.0, Rdio, Twitter, and More

Play Movies and TV 3.4.23 – Free

Now that Android 5.0 Lollipop is officially official and since it will hit the first devices in a couple weeks, Google is readying the native Android apps for the new software update. Play Movies and TV has been updated to version 3.4.23.
Just like you were probably anticipating Play Movies and TV 3.4.23 brings a Material Design interface and logo. Besides that it also adds a cool feature fore Chromecast streaming. When streaming to a Chromecast device from your smartphone or tablet via Play Movies and TV. Besides showing the playback controls and progress bar, the app also shows the actors on the screen at the moment.

Twitter – Free

Twitter
Twitter’s Android client received a new update last week. The new version focuses on making sound sharing easier with a new feature called Audio Cards.
Therefore you will now be able share music and other sounds directly within the Twitter Android app. Well, this was possible in the past, but you had to leave the app in order to do so. The Audio Cards experience is similar to the way images are handled in Twitter.
The Audio Cards Twitter update is now available in Google Play Store. The app is free and it can be downloaded from here.

Firefox Beta 34 – Free

Just like any other respectable web browser, Firefox has a Beta app version available for download in Google Play Store. Well, Firefox Beta has been updated to version 34.
Firefox Beta 34 adds tab mirroring support for Chromecast and a WiFi toggle on error pages. The latter feature allows you to quickly enable WiFi if you forgot to turn it on on your tablet or smartphone and the page you are trying to access returns an unable to connect error. Of course the new update brings more features and bug fixes, but the two aforementioned changes are the most important.

Rdio Music – Free

Rdio Music
Rdio allows you to “listen to endless stations” on your Android device and, for that, it has a dedicated app in Play Store. That app received an update last week.
Rdio Music is now capable of playing songs at 320 Kbps audio quality over WiFi or cellular. You will also be able to download songs at the same quality. Anyway, if you want to be able to take advantage of this new feature you must become a Rdio subscriber and pay $9.99 per month.

Androidify 2.0 – Free

Synchronized with the debut of Android 5.0 Lollipop, the folks at Google also announce an update for their Androidify app. The new update brings the app to version 2.0.
Androidify 2.0 arrives with Material Design UI and lots of new clothes and accessories for your character. It also introduces new moves for your Android character and support for Japanese, Korean, French and German.

Chrome Beta 39 – Free

Chrome Beta allows you to taste some of the features of the stable version ahead of time. Now, Chrome Beta has reached version 39, which adds a couple of new features.
Among others, Chrome Beta 39 adds Reader Mode which aims to remove unwanted stuff from a page and leave you with just the content. Among other “bug fixes and performance improvements” the new version also tweaks the tab closing animation, making more appropriate for Material Design.
