Late last month, Microsoft threw everyone for a loop with the announcement ofWindows 10. We still haven’t gotten a satisfactory answer as to why the company skipped a version, but looks like the gimmick was a success — Microsoft announcedvia the Windows Blog on Monday that over 1 million users have signed up for the Windows Insider Program.
In order to access the Windows 10 Technical Preview, you have to be a member of the Insider Program. It’s not a 1:1 ratio, but it’s a positive sign for the future of Windows and the blog post alone is further proof that Microsoft is going to be more forthright and responsive this time around.
According to Microsoft, over 200,000 pieces of user-initiated feedback (or UIFs) have been submitted since the program launched. A Windows Insider has even put together a script that find the top-rated feedback, so be sure to click “me too” when you see feedback that mirrors your experience with Windows 10.
Some other interesting data from the preview:
- 64% of Windows 10 Technical Preview users are on PCs, 36% are on virtual machines
- 68% of users are launching at least 7 apps a day
- 25% of users open more than 26 apps a day

Here’s a good sign that people might flock to Windows 10 when it comes out
