Nexus 6 Caught on Camera in the Wild

Even though it was rumored early this year that the Nexus family will be replaced by Google’s new Android Silver program, it looks like the launch of a new Nexus smartphone is right around the corner. In fact a Google employee officially dismissed the rumors saying that the Nexus program is dead soon after Google’s annual I/O tech conference.

The first Nexus 6 rumors saying that the smartphone will sport a 5.9-inch display were hard to believe, but all the recent reports are confirming that the Motorola-made device will be massive. A couple of days ago we showed you a Nexus 6 mock-up and confirmed some of its technical specifications and now we are back with more photos of the device.

The leaked photos surfaced online courtesy of the folks at Android Police and they are allowing us to see more details about the design of the yet-unannounced smartphone. The phone has a snap-on case which doesn’t let us to see whether it has a metallic edge like it was previously reported, but we can confirm that the volume and power keys are positioned towards the middle of the phone and that it has two front-facing stereo speakers. Anyway, the device doesn’t look that big, but it’s quite hard to tell since there are no nearby objects for scale (not even a banana).

If the recent reports turn out accurate, the highly-anticipated Nexus 6 will sport a 5.9-inch screen with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU, and 3 GB of RAM. It could also arrive with a 13 MP primary shooter with optical image stabilization, dual-LED flash, and 4K video recording support, 2 MP user-facing camera, and 3,200 mAh battery.

Without a doubt, the Motorola Nexus 6 will come pre-loaded with Android L (or whatever the final name will be). The release date is yet unknown, but if the rumors are to be believed, it might debut later this month.
