Nexus 9 Leaked Photo Shows Soft Touch Plastic Back and 4:3 Aspect Ratio
The Nexus 9 and the Nexus 6 are the stars of the rumor mill these days. After we’ve feared that the Nexus family will be replaced by Google’s new Android Silver program, now we have no doubt that two new Nexus devices are in the works.
After recent reports have painted an almost complete image of the Motorola Shamu (aka Nexus 6), now we get to look at the first leaked photo of the Nexus 9. You may know from previous rumors that the new Nexus tablet will be manufactured by HTC and that will have a 4:3 body. It was also rumored that the Nexus 9 will have “aluminium zero-gap” construction, but it looks like it will be made of soft touch plastic after all.
According to @upleaks, the T1 (read Nexus 9) “will NOT have a metal body,” as it’s made of “matte plastic like Nexus 5 by LG.” The same source also provided a photo of the Nexus 9 to sustain its claims. Furthermore, the photo also reveals what previous rumors have suggested: that the device will feature a screen with 4:3 aspect ratio.
We told you earlier today that the Nexus 9 has payed FCC a visit which is a confirmation that the tablet is in the final stages of development. If reports turn out true, then we might get to see the Nexus 9 and Nexus 6 in flash sometime tlate-October or early November. It’s no longer a secret that both devices will run Android L out of the box.
The rumor mill speculates that Nexus 9 will have an 8.9-inch display with 2048 x 1440 resolution and 281 ppi pixel density, while being underpinned by a 64-bit Nvidia Tegra K1 processor. It looks like the technical specifications list also includes 3 GB of RAM, 16/32 GB storage, 8 MP primary camera with OIS, 3 MP secondary cam, and stereo front-facing speakers.
