OnePlus One quality tested on video
OnePlus have decided to insure themselves from any accusations of bendiness or quality issues, such as the like that have plagued Apple since Bendgate kicked off. They have released a short video that demonstrates their own testing procedure. Check out the video below where you will see the OnePle One drop, pushed, dripped on and more.
The design of the OnePlus One has never been in question, so I guess in a way this video just reaffirms what we already knew. i.e. it’s a very sturdy device. The first scene shows the OPO being tested in a ‘Sit’ test, i.e. pushed down from above sitting in a sling. This is the kind of action that would indeed cause the iPhone 6 Plus to bend, so ok, point proved, especially when the test is performed 1000 times. The there’s the screen drop, where the device is dropped down on it front face – this is apparently repeated 40,000 times!
The 1.2 meter drop test impacts both the edges and the corners of the device to ensure it can withstand a damn good fall from your pocket, but I can’t help thinking that I would I would rather buy a phone that hasn’t been dropped from a height several times already. I’m pretty sure not every OnePlus One phone is tested in this way – they probably prefer to test random samples from each batch or production run. I’m pretty sure I would prefer one that hadn’t been ‘tested’.
