Publication says Apple has banned it from official events over ‘Bendgate’ coverage

Apple is understandably tired of talking about bent iPhone 6 Plus models but at the same time it seems that the company might be overreacting a tad if it’s really threatening publications over their coverage of the controversy. German computer magazine ComputerBilt.de claims that Apple has cut it off from both receiving testing devices and from being invited to future Apple launch events after it posted a video that showed how the iPhone 6 Plus could be bent with your bare hands.

As you can see in the video above, the publication bent the 6 Plus right under the bottom volume button, just as Unbox Therapy did in its original video.
The publication says that Apple’s PR department in Germany refused to answer any questions about the bent phone and only told it that it “will not get any testing devices and no invites to official events any more.” Because of this, the publication has written an open letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook asking him if this was really the reaction he wants his company to have to publications that are covering this issue.
It goes without saying that boycotting publications just for filming videos of bending the iPhone 6 Plus goes way too far. Sadly, though, given what we know about how Apple tries to obsessively control its media coverage, it’s not unexpected.
