This is our first look at Windows 10’s completely redesigned Start menu

Microsoft
Microsoft had plenty to talk about during the Windows 10 reveal event on Tuesday, from the operating system’s improved multitasking capability to the extensive preview program, but we all know that there was only one thing Windows users actually wanted to see: the Start menu. Thankfully, the classic Windows feature is making its return alongside Windows 10, but let’s take a look at how it has improved.
As you can see in the header image, Microsoft has plugged its Live Tiles into the Start menu on Windows 10. These tiles will be interchangeable and customizable depending on which apps, websites and contacts are most important to you. There is also a button dedicated to the current user profile with the option to restart and shut down the computer.
Windows 10 Start Menu Search
Search has also been revamped for Windows 10, bringing greater functionality to the Start menu. Rather than restricting your search to documents and files on your computer, you’ll also see results from the Internet.
So was it worth the wait? We’ll find out later this week after Windows users have had a chance to download the Technical Preview and begin forming their own opinions on the new Start menu.
