Android 5.0 Lollipop Update for HTC One M8 GPE Delayed Again
HTC announced last week that the Android 5.0 Lollipop update for HTC One M8 Google Play Edition should be pushed to users early this week. A couple of days ago we told you that the update has be re-scheduled for Friday, and now we hear that it has been delayed once again.
The announcement was made onTwitter by HTC’s VP of Product Management, Mo Versi. In a response to a follower asking whether the update will be rolled out today, Versi said that HTC “submitted the SW on Monday and were [HTC] informed today we need to re-spin SW.” Unfortunately, HTC’s official failed to reveal when the update will made available for download.
As usual, the HTC One M8 GPE Android 5.0 Lollipop update will be rolled out in stages, which means that some of you might have to wait longer than others after the new firmware is released. Once your terminal becomes eligible to receive the new update, you should receive a system update message in the notifications bar. All you need to do is tap on it, then follow the instructions. You can also check for the update manually under Settings > About phone > System updates > Check now.
You probably know already that Lollipop is the most major update Android has received so far. It arrives with tons of new features and system performance improvements. Just to name a few: lock screen notifications, revamped notifications bar and quick settings, better battery statistics, battery saver, multi-user support for phones, new recents menu with document-centric multitasking, smart lock, Android Runtime (ART) instead of Dalvik, Material Design interface with smooth animations and vivid colors, support for OpenGL ES 3.1, Audio USB out, and more.
