Moto Maxx Officially Announced, a Droid Turbo Variant for Latin America
Last month, the folks at Motorola introduced the Verizon-exclusive Droid Turbo. Just as rumors have suggested, Motorola also announced an international variant of the Droid Turbo. For the time being, the smartphone will only go on sale in Latin America.
Because Verizon has a licence on “Droid” branding, the new device will be released on the market as Moto Maxx. Anyway, it shares the hardware platform of the Droid Turbo, but it’s only available in one storage option and only one finish. You will only be able to grab the Moto Maxx with a Ballistic Nylon finish and 64 GB of storage. It’s available in both Black and Red body colors.
Besides the powerful specs, the most appealing feature of the Moto Maxx is probably the 3,900 mAh battery which promises 48 hours of moderate usage. The terminal is also compatible with Motorola’s Turbo charger that is capable of inject up to eight hours of battery life in just 15 minutes.Moto Maxx sports a 5.2-inch AMOLED display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution and 565 ppi pixel density, while being underpinned by a Snapdragon 805 processor with quad-core 2.7 GHz Krait 450 CPU and Adreno 420 GPU. It also features 3 GB of RAM, 64 GB of internal storage, 21 MP primary shooter with dual-LED flash and 4K video recording support, 2 MP user-facing camera, and a 3,900 mAh battery. Connectivity-wise it arrives with LTE, 3G, WiFi ac, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS.
The new flagship smartphone us 143.5 mm tall, 73.3 mm wide, and 11.2 mm thin, while weighing in at 176 grams. It comes pre-loaded with Android 4.4 KitKat and it will most likely get the Android 5.0 Lollipop update as soon as other Motorola supported devices get upgrade with the new firmware.
On the Brazilian market, the Moto Maxx is available starting today at a price of 2,199 reals (about $870). Motorola also announced that their new device will debut in Mexico mid-November, while other Latin American countries will get it later this year. For the time being, there’s no information regarding the world wide availability of Moto Maxx.
