Nexus 4 Android 5.0 Lollipop Update to Arrive Soon, Says Google Employee
Sascha Prutter has confirmed on Google+ that the Android 5.0 Lollipop is “locked and loaded” for the Nexus 4. This means that the official OTA Update should be pushed real soon and all Nexus 4 users will be getting it before the end of this month.
The Google Employee has also confirmed that the new Android 5.0 firmware version is LRX21T. This build is different from the one that is currently being shipped to Nexus 5 and other Nexus devices, as those are running LRX21O, LRX21P or LRX21Q firmware versions, which means that the Nexus 4 device will run the latest Lollipop build. With Android 5.0 the Nexus 4 will receive tons of great new features and improvements that should offer a brand new OS experience.
Android 5.0 Lollipop for Nexus 4 comes with Material Design UI, Recents multi-tasking feature, lock screen notifications, new toggles for the Quick Settings menu, Notifications improvements, multi-user support, device sharing, screen pinning, trusted devices, battery saving move, dynamic status bar, Android Runtime (ART) complete support, priority call features, OpenGL ES 3.1, improved camera software, better OK Google (Google Now) menu, tap and pay improved, print preview, and tons of other great things. More can be learned about Android 5.0 and what it adds for all Nexus devices here.
The official Android 5.0 Lollipop roll out for Nexus 4 will start this month and you should note that this will only be available for devices that are running 100% stock Android 4.4.4 ROMs. If you’re currently running a custom ROM on your or in case you’ve modified the OS in any other way, then the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA update will not be available.
The Nexus 4 smartphone might possibly be at its final major Android stock OS update, so it would be better for its owners to enjoy Android 5.0 Lollipop. After the new firmware is released for Nexus 4 you should simply confirm the download process, as after that your phone will take care of the rest of the process by itself. Keep an eye on all Android-based websites in order to find out where will the Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Update be first spotted on a Nexus 4 smartphone.
