Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 Mobile Development Platform Smartphone & Tablet Can Now be Ordered

The Mobile Development Platform Smartphone and Tablet based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset are now available for purchase from Canadian product development company Intrinsyc. The company has been selling Qualcomm reference hardware kits since the past few years, aimed primarily at developers by giving them early access to the next-generation performance platform for developing, testing and optimizing their Android applications for the hardware. Earlier this year it had sold the Snapdragon 805 based Reference Tablet.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 is the next-generation mobile chipset from Qualcomm and the first high-end 64-bit chipset from the company with an octo-core CPU that has four Cortex A57 cores and four Cortex A53 cores. It also comes with the new Qualcomm Adreno 430 GPU and the latest Hexagon DSP. There is support for high-performance DDR4 memory as well. Hardware based Ultra HD 4K H.264 (AVC) and H.265 (HEVC) video capture and playback are some of the key features from a multimedia standpoint.

Coming to the smartphone, the MDP smartphone comes with a 6.17” Quad-HD 2560 x 1440 resolution display, 4GB LP-DDR4 RAM, 32GB eMMC 5.0 internal storage with microSD card slot, 13MP rear camera with OIS and 4K video recording, 4MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording at 120fps, 3020mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 feature, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2.5GHz/5GHz, Bluetooth 4.1, Qualcomm® IZat™ Gen8C GPS, NFC, Fingerprint reader, pressure sensor, temperature and humidity sensor, UV sensor, Mobeam sensor, 8 microphones with support for Qualcomm Fluence Pro technology, and an Ultrasound emitter for gesture based apps. The smartphonehas been priced at $799 and will be shipping my mid-December.

The Mobile Development Platform Tablet is equally as impressive as the smartphone. The tablet has a 10.1-inch UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution 16:9 display, 4GB LP-DDR4 RAM, 64GB eMMC 5.0 internal storage with microSD card slot, 13MP rear camera with OIS and 4K video recording at 60fps, 4MP front camera with 1080p video at 120 fps, Dual 3D IR gesture cameras, Dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi 2.5/5GHz, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, GPS, 7560mAh battery with Qualcomm WiPower charging and Quick Charge 2.0, Micro HDMI connector, 8 microphones, two Ultrasound emitters for gesture applications, and a bevy of sensors like the MDP smartphone. The reference tablet has been priced at $999 and will also be shipping by mid-December like the smartphone.
