Google Nexus 5 Production Ended, Get One While You Can
The inevitable has just happened. After Google announced the Nexus 6 two months back, it was only a matter of time until Google was going to stop the Nexus 5 production completely. Sadly, the time has now come. A Google spokesperson confirmed toTechradar that the production of the Google Nexus 5 smartphone has indeed drawn to a close. And when the stocks finally run out, nobody will be able to get a Nexus 5 anymore.
Recently the white and red versions of the Nexus 5 disappeared completely from the Google Play Store and only the black version is listed on the Google Play Store currently, which is out of stuck currently in most regions. And as you can guess, it isn’t likely to be back in stock again as no new supplies of the Nexus 5 will arrive again. The device is still available through a few retailers and also on the Play Store in some countries. So if you are interested in getting a Google Nexus 5, you will need to act fast as the remaining stocks of the smartphone should finish pretty quickly considering how it has now dropped in price significantly, making it an even more value for money smartphone than it was when it first launched last year.
Most 2014 flagship devices outshine the Nexus 5 in most areas but that doesn’t take anything away from the fact that the Nexus 5 is still a fantastic smartphone and when it comes to performance, its 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 chipset and stock Android combo make it one of the smoothest Android devices in the market even today. The only major cons with the device are its lackluster camera performance, non-expandable memory, and a rather plain and boring design. The Google Nexus 6 improves over the Nexus 5 in a number of key areas but it is also a lot bigger than the Nexus 5, with its enormous 5.96-inch display size. And we think that will really leave a void now as the Nexus 5 was an option for Nexus lovers who did not want to get the Nexus 6 due to its large dimensions and would have been happy with the specs of the Nexus 5. Now with the Nexus 5 gone, they will need to either get the Google Nexus 6 or opt for a non-Nexus smartphone instead. Now all hopes lie on next year’s Nexus lineup. Hopefully Google will a Nexus smartphone for people who aren’t too comfortable with the idea of using a 6-inch phablet as their main smartphone.
