Samsung’s Upcoming Galaxy E5 & Galaxy E7 Specs Revealed In Latest Leak
The Samsung Galaxy SM-E500F and Galaxy SM-E700F smartphones leaked on an Indian import tracking portal late last month. Back then, we had very little idea about the specifications of the devices as the portal showed very limited information. The source of most Samsung mobile rumors – SamMobile is back with yet another leak, this time about the full spec-sheet of the Galaxy E5 (SM-E500F) and the Galaxy E7 (SM-E700F).
It turns out that the Galaxy E7 and the E5 are more like the cheaper siblings of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 and may perhaps miss out on the metal body construction that their A-series counterparts A7 and A5 offer. The Galaxy E7 is expected to be similar to the Galaxy A7 and will come with a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 HD resolution. The display size is similar to the Galaxy A7, but instead of 1080p on the A7, you are going to get 720p on the E7. Similarly, the chipset has been downgraded from the Snapdragon 615 on the Galaxy A7 to a 1.2GHz Snapdragon 410 processor. 2GB of RAM will be on-board and while the internal storage is going to be 16GB. The rear camera is said to be a 13MP shooter while the front-facing camera is also pretty impressive, with a 5MP resolution. Rounding off the decent hardware package will be the 2950mAh battery, which is pretty impressive for a budget device. SamMobile seems to have acquired details about the dimensions of the device as well. The Galaxy E7 will apparently measure 151 x 77 x 7.2mm. That is pretty impressive indeed, but quite obviously doesn’t compare to the 6.3mm ultra-thin profile of its more expensive sibling, Galaxy A7.
The Galaxy E5 will also be a pretty impressive device, although its success would depend on the final pricing as its spec-sheet isn’t remarkable in any way. It has a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, a 8MP rear camera, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset, 2GB RAM, 16GB on board storage with memory expansion, 5MP front-facing camera, and a 2300mAh battery. With the smaller capacity battery, the E5 is expected to be thinner than the E7 at 6.9mm and will weight around 140grams.
Both devices are expected to ship with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box, with the Samsung TouchWiz UX custom skin on top. SamMobile’s insider also reveals that the battery on both will be non-removable, which seems a bit odd as these devices aren’t likely to get a full metal build and we even the latest Galaxy Note 4 with a combination of polycarbonate and metal build comes with a removable battery. Among the major Android OEMs, Samsung is the only one to offer removable batteries on pretty much all its smartphones, including the flagship devices.
SamMobile’s source did not mention anything about the announcement and launch timeframe for these devices, so we probably will have to wait until next year to see the devices get announced officially. Pricing also remains a mystery for now, but the prices mentioned on the Indian import portal did seem pretty low. So we can perhaps expect the two E-series Galaxy smartphones to be priced competitively indeed.
