HTC A12 Mid-Ranger Specs Leak Courtesy of Upleaks
Smartphone leaker upleaks has been on a roll lately, leaking information about many of HTC’s 2015 devices including the company’s flagship ‘Hima’. The pro leaker has today shared details on one of HTC’s 2015 mid-range offerings – A12. Judging by its leaked spec-sheet, the device looks to be a replacement for the HTC Desire 610.
According to upleaks, the smartphone will feature a 4.7” 1280 x 720p HD display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 1.2GHz quad-core chipset, 1GB RAM, 8MP rear camera, 1.3MP front-facing camera, 2100mAh battery, and run on Android 4.4 KitKat with HTC Sense 6.0 UI. The dimensions of the device are 139.8 x 69.5 x 9.5mm reportedly. The device is expected to be launched in February next year and will also be available in the US market through all the major carriers – AT&T, Verizon, Sprint & T-Mobile.
Even though upleaks doesn’t mention anything about connectivity, we expect the A12 to also feature 4G LTE connectivity like the recent HTC Android mid-range smartphones. HTC has been pushing budget LTE smartphones lately, and we expect it to continue pushing out 4G LTE smartphones next year. As far as the rest of the spec-sheet is concerned, it does seem pretty decent but we do wonder how well HTC will be able to price the device as its spec-sheet isn’t very different from what other Android OEMs are expected to offer next year. What is also strange is the reported 1.3MP front-facing camera. This is really surprising after seeing a wave of HTC mid-rangers recently with 5MP front-facing cameras. Android 4.4 KitKat OS is also underwhelming as Android 5.0 Lollipop has been available for 3 months now, and to release a mid-range smartphone with Android 4.4 KitKat isn’t the best thing to do in our opinion. We hope HTC will consider rolling out an update to Android 5.0 Lollipop soon after the device becomes available for sale across the world.
