HTC One M7 and One M8 GPE Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA Update is Live

Mo Versi, VP of Product Management at HTC, has officially confirmed that the One M7 and One M8 Google Play Edition devices are currently getting the official Android 5.0.1 Lollipop firmware update. Check the system update menu of your device or keep an eye on your notifications panel for Android 5.0.1 alerts.

It seems like HTC has skipped the Android 5.0 release and instead they will be releasing the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop build straight away. For the time being only the Google Play Editions of HTC One M7 and One M8 are getting this new firmware upgrade. The original One M7 and One M8 should be getting the Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade starting with early 2015.

Android 5.0.1 Lollipop updates for HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 GPe models are being released in phases, all models will get the update before the end of this month. So, don’t panic in case your device hasn’t received the new firmware update notification.

Android 5.0.1 Lollipop brings Material Design UI, Notifications improvements with Priority Mode functions, lock screen interactive notifications, intelligent notifications ranking, improved Battery Saving Mode, Device Sharing capabilities, Android Smart Lock, Guest user support, Screen Pinning, multiple users support, new Quick Settings toggles, Android Runtime (ART) full support, and multiple others. The Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OTA Update is currently rolling out now and you should simply confirm the download and installation process for the phone to complete flashing process automatically. If the update notification hasn’t arrived yet, then you can go to Settings> About> Software Update and use this menu to check for new Android 5.0.1 firmware files.
