Moto X Android 5.0 Lollipop Update Now Rolling Out for Pure Edition Model

Motorola’s “Pure Edition” model of Moto X 2014 is getting the latest build of Android 5.0 Lollipop OTA Update. Keep an eye on your device’s Notification panel and confirm installation when this new firmware is ready for your smartphone.

The Android 5.0 Lollipop brings tons of new features and functions that should make you feel like you’ve just bought a brand new smartphone. In Android 5.0 you will find the brand new Material Design interface, lock screen notifications, major tweaks and new functions for the Notifications panel, new toggles, Smart Lock, Recents multi-tasking menu, Device sharing capabilities, multiple users support, screen pinning, and tons of other great Lollipop 5.0 things.

Some Moto X Pure Edition devices are already sporting the first Android 5.0 build, but not all models have received it. This means that those devices that are still waiting on Lollipop OTA Update will now be receiving this brand new 22.21.11 Android 5.0 Update instead. Compared with the previous build, this new one only fixes some bugs and improves the overall performance of your device.

This Android 5.0 Lollipop build for the Moto X 2nd Gen “Pure Edition” smartphone has the firmware version set to 22.21.11. Keep in mind that it will only be released for the 100% stock devices, so you won’t be receiving any brand new Android 5.0 files in case your device is sporting a custom ROM.

Note that Motorola rolls out this update in phases. It means that not all Moto X 2014 “Pure Edition” models are getting the new firmware update at the same time. However, don’t panic in case the update hasn’t arrived, all devices should get it before the end of this year. You can check manually for new files by going to Settings, then About Phone and open System Updates menu.
