Samsung Readying Galaxy S6 Edge Along With The Galaxy S6

Last month SamMobile leaked some detailed information on the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S6. Apparently codenamed ‘Project Zero’, the 2015 Samsung flagship is expected to be a powerhouse in terms of hardware. Finally SamMobile is back with some more interesting info on the device, and this time claim that Samsung is also preparing a Galaxy S6 Edge variant that is expected to launch alongside the Galaxy S6. This year Samsung surprised everyone at their IFA event by announcing the Galaxy Note Edge along with the Galaxy Note 4, but a Galaxy S6 Edge does sound a bit more shocking seeing how such a device will be restricted to a niche market.

The Galaxy S6 Edge is expected to feature a similar curved display as the Galaxy Note Edge and will most likely have a similar screen size considering how the Galaxy S6 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch display. No other details regarding the device have been shared yet, but SamMobile does expect the Galaxy S6 Edge to be available in greater quantities compared to the Galaxy Note Edge that is being released in very few markets around the world. We believe the key differences between the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy Note Edge would be in terms of the hardware and the lack of S-Pen on the S6 Edge. While no rumors have yet confirmed the screen size of the Galaxy S6, there isn’t likely to be much of a difference between the two as flagships next year are expected to move to a 5.5-inch form factor.

Finally the report confirms that the Galaxy S6 would indeed be named ‘Galaxy S6’, which was almost a given anyway. According to previous rumors, the S6 could be a lot more impressive device than this year’s Galaxy S5. Samsung is really serious this time and wants to put an end to its declining smartphone sales, especially in the high-end segment of the market. The Galaxy S5 sales have been quite disappointing and has not been able to match the success seen by its predecessors – Galaxy S4 and Galaxy S3. As per earlier reports, the device will pack a Quad HD (2560 x 1440) resolution display, 64-bit Exynos 7420/Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 16 or 20MP rear camera with OIS, 5MP front-facing camera, 32/64/128GB internal storage options, and a new Broadcom BCM4773 sensor chip.
