Unofficial CM12 Available For Google Nexus 7
2013 Google Nexus 7 is still a great Android tablet, which also received stock Android Lollipop OTA update. The stock firmware is stable and works without problems on the 2013 model of Nexus 7, but if you really want to spice things up, you should try a custom ROM instead. So, if you are an advanced Android user who is thinking in testing an Android 5.0.1 Lollipop powered custom platform, then you should know that an unofficial port of CyanogenMod 12 has been made available for your device.
CM12 is currently developed by those of xda-developers and it is based on stock Android OS and on previous official CM releases. CyanogenMod team is currently working on the new CM 12 platform, but an official / nightly release will be released only when all the bugs and issues will be finally addressed. But, until then, you can test an unofficial port of CM12 which brings great features and apps to your Asus Google Nexus 7.
This CM12 version provided by xda-developers is still having minor bugs and issues, though according to the devs and to those who have already installed this Android 5.0.1 Lollipop software on their own Google Nexus 7 tablets, it is stable enough for a daily use. Anyway, you can learn everything about CyanogenMod 12 for Nexus 7 by checking this page – this is the official dev. page.
Remember that if you want to update your tablet with this custom ROM, first you will better save the current ROM from your Nexus 7. In this way, if CM 12 will not be on your taste, you will be able to easily downgrade your tablet. Moreover, remember that flashing a custom ROM is an unofficial operation that can be completed only on a rooted device that is installed with a custom recovery image.
Well, that was all for now; bottom line, CM12 based on stock Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS is currently available for the 2013 model of Google Nexus 7, so you can anytime choose to test this new software on your own tablet.
