According to a leaked HTC roadmap, the HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 will receive the Android 4.4.4 KitKat update sometime in the July – August time frame. The document also reveals that the Taiwan-based phone maker is also playing with Android L for some of its handsets.
As you may know, the Google Play Editions of HTC One M7 and HTC One M8 have already been updated to Android 4.4.4 and the leaked document says that the original HTC One M7 and One M7 will receive the Android 4.4.4 with Sense 6.0 sometime in the next couple of months.
The roadmap leaked by well-known HTC developer LlabTooFeR also shows that the Taiwan-based phone maker has already tested Android 4.4.3 with Sense 6.0 for HTC One M7 and One M8. It’s not clear yet whether the two smartphones will be updated to Android 4.4.3 then to 4.4.4 soon after, or if they will simply make the jump to the latest KitKat version.
If the document proves to be the real deal, then HTC will bring Android 4.4.4 with Sense 6.0 on the HTC One M8, HTC One M7, HTC One M8 dual-SIM, HTC One Mini 2, and HTC One E8, the later one being a plastic variant of the M8, packing a 13 MP camera.
It seems though that many of HTC’s currently supported devices might not get updated to Android 4.4.4. The aforementioned document revealed that HTC One M7 dual-SIM, HTC One Max, HTC Butterfly S, HTC Desire 816, and HTC Desire 610 will remain on Android 4.4.2 with Sense 6.0. A good news for the HTC One Mini owners, as the smartphone might get updated to Sense 6.0 sometime next month.
Though, the leaked roadmap suggests that HTC is planning to bring Android L outside their One M7 and One M8 flagship family. It seems that the new Android release is being evaluated for Butterfly S, Desire 816, and Desire 610. I’ll remind you that HTC promised they will be releasing Android L on HTC One M7 and One M8 within 90 days of receiving the final software from Google.
