Android 4.5 Update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 Could Arrive a Month After I/O

Most sources are reporting that Google will soon release the Android 4.5 update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10, but no one can tell us for sure when will the new Android iteration will see the light of day. We strongly believe that the Android 4.5 update for Neuxs and Google Play Edition devices will be rolled out about a month after Google’s I/O developers conference.

No, we don’t have the information from an “anonymous tipster,” nor from a “trusted insider.”It’s just an educated guess based on Google’s previous launches.

We’ve seen in the last couple of years that Google is releasing two incremental updates a year, on in the summer, the other late October. In 2012 they launched Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and the Nexus 7 2012 in July, October 2012 brought us the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 10 with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, then, one year later, Android 4.3 and Nexus 7 2013 were introduced in July, followed by the launch of Android 4.4 KitKat and Nexus 5 in October. There’s no single reason why Google would want to change the pattern. The recent Android releases allowed OMEs to update their smartphones way faster than before and that exactly what Google wants in order to reduce Android fragmentation.

In the past few years, the Google I/O events were centered on the company’s services rather than on new Android versions and new Nexus devices. We believe that this year’s I/O edition will focus on Android Wear and the first Android Wear smartwatches, as well as on introducing new design guidelines for developers, deeper Google Now integration in Android, and probably on a so-called Google Fit service, a rival against Apple’s iOS 8 Health.

Google will most likely introduce its next Android iteration during a separate event held about a month after I/O (same as last year with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and Nexus 7 2013). Rumor has it that Android 4.5 will be launched synchronized with the debut of a new tablet manufactured by HTC, Nexus 8. Soon after the said event, Google will release the Android 4.5 update for Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, Nexus 10, and other supported devices.
