If you’re living in the US and you set your eyes on the Galaxy S5 Active, then AT&T would be your only choice. The good news is that Sprint has just announced the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport, which is almost identical to the Galaxy S5 Active. The only difference is some small aesthetic changes.
Just like the S5 Active, Sprint’s Galaxy S5 Sport has the same three physical buttons on the front and an IP67 rated body, which is a confirmation that the device is both water and dust resistant. Unlike AT&T, Sprint throws in for free six months of Spotify and a year of MapMyFitness MVP.
Hardware-wise, the Galaxy S5 Sport is identical to AT&T’s Galaxy S5 Active: a 5.1-inch Super AMOLED display with 1080 x 1920 resolution, quad-core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB native storage, microSD, 2 GB RAM, 16 MP rear-facing camera with 4K video recording support, Android 4.4.2 KitKat with TouchWiz UI, and a 2,800 mAh battery.
Sprint revealed that the Samsung Galaxy S5 Sport will hit their stores July 25th and, for a limited time, you will get $50 off a Gear Fit with the purchase. If you go with Sprint Easy Pay, you will be able to get your hands on the device for zero down and 24 monthly payments of $27.09 a month.
Even though Sprint didn’t mention anything about the on-contract price of the Galaxy S5 Sport, expect the rugged smartphone to cost $199 with a two-year contract.
