The folks at Barns & Noble have gave up building their own hardware a while ago, but the popular bookseller has found a way of bringing their e-content to you. Earlier last month, Barns & Noble officially revealed that they are teaming-up with Samsung to release co-branded devices. We’ve heard about the Galaxy Tab 4 Nook early August, but the tablet is now officially official.
The new Galaxy Tab 4 Nook has the hardware platform of the 7-inch Samsung tablet, but it ditches TouchWiz over Barnes & Noble’s Nook UI. The good news is that, just like the latest B&N tablets, the Tab 4 Nook will offer you access to Google Play Store apps. Because the exclusive features couldn’t have been missing, the new 7-inch slate integrates B&N Advantage a pretty cool app that offers access to both books and customer support.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Nook is already available for purchase in Barnes & Noble’s physical stores at a price of $179, after a $20 discount is applied. It’s also worth mentioning that the new tablet also arrives with free B&N content such as magazines, TV episodes, and books which is worth $200.
I remind you that Galaxy Tab 4 boasts about a 7.0-inch TFT display with 800 x 1280 resolution and 216 ppi pixel density, while being underpinned by a quad-core 1.2 GHz Marvell PXA1088. The tablet also arrives with 1.5 GB of RAM, 16 GB of internal storage, support for microSD cards up to 32 GB, 3.15 MP primary shooter with support for HD video recording, 1.3 MP user-facing camera, and a 4,000 mAh battery. Connectivity wise, the terminal brings all standards of WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, infra red port, and microUSB 2.0.
