The AT&T variant of the Moto X is still running Android 4.4.2, but not for long. Users who are a part of the Motorola Feedback program are reporting they are receiving an invitation to participate in the AT&T Moto X Android 4.4.4 update soak tests.
Because all the KitKat-specific goodies such as transparent status and nav bars, immersive mode, white status bar icons, full screen album and movie art, cloud printing, color emoji support, or new Location menu were patched in the previous Android 4.4 updates for Moto X, the new update only arrives to address bugs, to improve performance, and add a couple of new tweaks. The new firmware is labeled v212.44.26.en.US and it should arrive with a new Phone Dialer with card-based interface, new color scheme for the dialer itself, and a new look for the People app. It seems that the new Android 4.4.4 update for AT&T Moto X also arrives with the ability to hide the carrier name from the status bar.
Therefore, if you are a member of the Motorola Feedback network we recommend you to keep an eye on the notifications bar. Once your terminal will become eligible to receive the new software you should be able to see a system update message in the notifications bar. If the system update notification failed to appear you would also want to perform a manual check under Settings > About phone > Software updates > Check now.
The Moto X Android 4.4.4 update file has a size of 151.5 MB, therefore it’s recommended to download it using a stable WiFi network in order to avoid unwanted data charges. If everything goes as planned the new software update should be rolled out for everybody else in a few days, after the soak tests are over.
Are there any AT&T Moto X owners who are also members of the Motorola Feedback program reading this? Have you guys received the new update on your devices? Please let your fellow Moto X owners know in the comments section below.
