Motorola will begin the official Android 4.4.4 soak test for the AT&T Moto X devices. This means that the official and final KitKat build should arrive by the end of this month if testing goes according to plan.
The Android 4.4.4 KitKat name is not mentioned, but we can safely assume that’s the correct build as the AT&T Moto X is currently running Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware. All those that are members of the Motorola Feedback Network have been notified by Motorola and if you’re one of them, then you should hurry up and complete their survey if you want to test the future Android firmware on your device.
All users who will be enrolling in the Android 4.4.4 KK soak test will also need to provide comprehensive feedback, so that Motorola will be ready to release the new firmware build for all AT&T Moto X users by the end of August. This update shouldn’t be that big, as we’re expecting it to feature only bug fixes and some security enhancements.
The Android 4.4.4 KitKat Update has been already pushed for Verizon Moto X models, while the Sprint Moto X variants have received the Android 4.4.3 build instead. Sprint has decided to incorporate all Android 4.4.4 changes in the Android 4.4.3 release.
AT&T Moto X users will get bug fixes, performance tweaks, security improvements and the new Dialer app which has received a refreshed look for better functionality. Tell us in comments if you’re part of Motorola Feedback Network and owner of AT&T Moto X and whether you’ve been invited or not to the Android 4.4.4 soak test.
After Motorola is done with this roll out, they can focus on establishing a future release date of the Android L (5.0?) upgrade for all their Motorola smartphones. This means that there won’t be any new firmware updates released until Google finishes the work on their future OS version.
