Earlier this year it was rumored that Google is reading a new Nexus-like program called Android Silver which will represent the death of the Nexus line-up. Soon after a Google employee dismissed the rumors, we’ve heard reports of two new Nexus devices. One of them is an 8.9-inch tablet manufactured by HTC and the other one is the unofficially dubbed Nexus 6, a smartphone codenamed Shamu and developed by Motorola.
The Motorola Shamu aka Nexus 6 is one everyone’s lips lately as more details of the handset surfaced online. Yesterday, the handset was spotted in GFX Benchmark logs with a score similar to the one of other high-end smartphones with Full HD screen and Snapdragon 801 CPU. Earlier today we’ve been able to see some of the terminal’s specifications after it appeared in AnTuTu database. Now the Nexus 6 leaks again, after it was benchmarked in GFX Bench.
The new GFX Bench log reveals the technical specifications of the Nexus 6 and most of them match the ones we’ve been able to see earlier today in AnTuTu. Therefore the smartphone called Motorola Shamu has a 5.2-inch display with Quad HD (1440 x 2560) resolution, a quad-core Snapdragon 805 CPU at 2.7 GHz, Adreno 420 GPU, and 3 GB RAM. It also sports 24 GB storage (probably a 32 GB model), 2 MP user-facing camera, and 12 MP primary camera with support for 4K video recording. The only difference between the specs revealed now by GFX Bench and those spotted in AnTuTu is the camera, the latter benchmark application listing a 13 MP sensor.
Of course, the Nexus 6 is running Android L and has accelerometer, barometer, Bluetooth, compass, GPS, gyro, NFC, pedometer, proximity sensor, and WiFi support. As you may know, the Nexus 6 is expected to debut late-October or early-November, when Google will reportedly release Android L for the public. The above mentioned HTC Nexus tablet will most likely be introduced at in the same time.
