Samsung Galaxy Alpha Specs Leaked on Product Page

We’ve told you a while ago that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha release date could be on August 13th, but chances are we might actually see the metal smartphone for the first time next month at IFA 2014. In the meantime, more details of the Galaxy Alpha surfaced online after UK retailer MobileFun accidentally published the smartphone’s product page.

Even though the leak doesn’t bring anything new to the table, it confirms most of the rumors we’ve heard over the past couple of weeks. Even though we’ve heard that Galaxy Alpha will pack a 4.7 or 4.8-inch 720p display, MobileFun’s listing indicates that Samsung preferred the former screen size. This means that the display will have a pixel density of 320 ppi. The Galaxy Alpha product page also talks about an “octa-core Exynos processor for unprecedented speed and multi-tasking.” It’s probably the new Exynos 5433 chipset.

You’ve probably heard from previous rumors that the Samsung Galaxy Alpha will have a metal body. What’s interesting about the MobileFun listing is that it doesn’t talk at all about the metallic design of the new smartphone, which is quite odd because this will be the main selling point of the new smartphone. A metal Galaxy Alpha with high-end specifications would be the perfect competitor against Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6. The aforementioned listing also points towards 32 GB of native storage. Just like it was previously rumored, the smartphone seems to lack microSD card support. The handset will also integrate a 12 MP rear-facing camera with super fast Autofocus and 2.1 MP secondary camera. We also have confirmation for the rumored fingerprint scanner, but it’s still unknown whether it will pack a heart rate monitor.

MobileFun listed the new Samsung Galaxy Alpha at a price of £549. That translates into about $925 which is too much considering that the Galaxy S5 has a price of $650. Of course, the smartphones are usually more expensive on the European market, but it’s still too much.

As I was mentioning above, the smartphone was initially expected to debut September 13, but it seems that, after all, the South Koreans will unveil it during their Unpacked event on September 3rd. Thoughts?
