HTC’s Upcoming Octa-Core 

HTC has been on a roll this year. After launching the HTC One M8 Android flagship, it has launched a very competitive Desire lineup and recently introduced the HTC One M8 for Windows too. The company was also the first to launch a 64-bit Android smartphone in the market with the Desire 610. At IFA this week it introduced its second 64-bit smartphone and the first smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset. Now upleaks reports that the Taiwanese smartphone company is planning to launch few more handsets in the mid-range market.

The most important handset of the list is the Octa-Core phablet that is being developed for the global market. It is said to be almost similar hardware wise to the HTC Desire 816. Which means it could feature the same 5.5 inch 1280 x 720 resolution HD display, 8GB on-board memory, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing camera, and a 2600mAh battery. The chipset is said to be the main difference as the new phablet will be running Mediatek’s Octa-Core chipset and not Qualcomm Snapdragon. The exact chip would most likely be the MTK6592 which has been used on many Chinese smartphones so far, like the Gionee S5.5. The amount of RAM is also said to be different from the Desire 816, so we guess it could be 1GB if it’s meant to be a lower priced option to the Desire 816.

Upleaks has also shared information on some China specific models including an alleged selfie focused phone codenamed A51 which will come with a selfie stand case. There are no more details on this handset sadly except that it could be named the HTC Eye and will be offered in three color options – White, Red and Blue.. Next we have the Y5. This one is said to be a mid-range phablet running YellowStone OS and will be offered by China Mobile. It will feature similar hardware to the Desire 816.

Apart from these, HTC is also said to be working on a premium phablet device codenamed Hima_Ultra that will be offered by AT&T in the US. No specifications for this device are available though. Looks like HTC is definitely in the mood to continue its sales growth upswing this year with so many new handsets getting readied for the rest of the year.
