New Moto Shamu (aka Nexus 6) Leaked Photo Reveals “About Phone” Page

Early this year it was rumored that the Nexus family of devices will be replaced by a new Google program called Android Silver. After a Google employee officially has dismissed the rumors that said that the Nexus line-up will be discontinued, reports of unannounced Nexus hardware started to surface online. First we heard about an HTC-made Nexus 9 tablet and now the Nexus 6 is making the headlines.

As you may know from previous reports, the unofficially dubbed Nexus 6 is codenamed Shamu and is manufactured by Motorola. Earlier last week we presented you a Moto Shamu rendering and a leaked photo of the device posing next to an LG G3. Now, a new leaked photo of the Motorola Shamu is roaming around the web courtesy of Android Authority.

The new leaked photo shows off the “About phone” page which gives us a few hints about the software currently running on the device. The Motorola Shamu captured on camera is running an AOSP build of Android L. Furthermore, the kernel labelled as 3.10.40-g2143d89android-build@vpbs1.mtv.corp.google.com is Google-made, which could be an indication that the search engine giant is involved in the development of the device. Anyway, it’s not clear yet whether Moto Shamu will be a Moto phablet or will be a part of the Nexus tribe.

Because it was hard to tell what phone was captured on camera, the folks at Android Authority messed around with the color controls to reveal the shape of the device. To our surprise, the alleged Moto Shamu features the “M” logo on the front. Previous leaked photos have let us observe a Motorola logo on the back of the device, but a logo on the front too is a bit too much for a Nexus smartphone.

If the rumors prove accurate, then Moto Shamu will be a beast when it comes to hardware. It looks like the device is packing a 5.9-inch Quad HD (1440 x 2560) screen, quad-core 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB of RAM, a massive 3,200 mAh battery, 32 GB storage, 14 MP primary camera, and 2 MP secondary camera.
