Oppo has started teasing its upcoming flagship on social media. The company today posted a teaser image that shows an old dialer phone with the message “This was the phone”. The company is clearly hinting at its upcoming N1 flagship smartphone.
Oppo has been one of the few brands who seem to be concentrating on the cameras of their devices and using them as their USP. The Oppo N1 was launched last year and came with a 13MP rotatable camera which let you use the 13MP camera to shoot selfies as well. The Oppo Find 7 released this year was the first Quad-HD smartphone and came with a unique option to combine multiple pictures to produce 50 megapixel stills with image interpolation technology.
The new flagship smartphone from Oppo is to be dubbed the N3. We’re curious why Oppo decided to go with the N3 moniker and not N2 though. Rumors indicate that the N3 will be similar to the N1 in terms of design and possible come with the same rotating camera as well. There some reports claiming that a Snapdragon 805 chipset could be on board, but we’re not sure if we should believe such reports just yet. With Oppo indicating an October announcement, we have about a month to go to see what the smartphone will actually feature.
Seeing how Oppo made a stress on the Find 7’s ability to take 50MP stills, we’re expecting to see a higher Megapixel count camera on the N3. And since the Find 7 already packs a Quad-HD display, it is very likely the N3 would also come with the same high-resolution but perhaps on a larger screen size as the Oppo N1 launched with a 5.9 inch display last year.
We hope Oppo is really serious this time and can convince us with a truly capable camera phone. A bigger sensor, wide-angle lens and high bitrate 4K video recording would be very welcome.
