There are quite a few rumors about Samsung’s new mid-range A series roaming around the interwebs and most of them are suggesting that the new devices will incorporate metal in their design. Not long ago, we’ve been able to see a couple of leaked photos of a Samsung A series smartphone after it got certified in China. The device had model number SM-A500 and, sadly, the photos were too low-res.
The good news is that the folks at Sammobile are at it again. They’ve stretched their antennas and managed to get in touch with a Samsung insider that provided some leaked photos of the SM-A500. According to the said insider, the SM-A500 will be actually sold as Galaxy A5. Even though it’s not entirely clear whether the Samsung Galaxy A5 will be made of plastic or metal, Sammobile’s insider said that the material feels cold in the hand. So it might be metal, after all.
The same publication also provided some specs for the new Galaxy A5. According to them, the smartphone will be powered by a Snapdragon 400 processor, while sporting a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 13 MP primary camera, 5 MP front-facing camera (this one’s for you selfie addicts), 16 GB of native storage, 2,330 mAh battery, and Android KitKat out of the box, of course, customized with Samsung’s proprietary TouchWiz skin. As you might have noticed already, the Galaxy A5 will not be the most powerful smartphone on the market, but it has above average technical specifications. If Samsung sets the right price and based on its looks (see gallery below), the Galaxy A5 might actually become a popular device.
But the Samsung Galaxy A5 will not be the only Alpha smartphone announced by the South Korean phone maker this year. There’s also evidence of a lower-end device member of the A tribe which has model number SM-A300. The folks at Sammobile have some information about this one, too.
In one of their leaks, the publication famous for their reports about unannounced Samsung products, writes that the Samsung Galaxy A3 (SM-A300) will have a Snapdragon 410 processor with Adreno 306 GPU, and 540 x 950 screen resolution. The SM-A300 was also spotted in some benchmark tests, which revealed that it also features an 8 MP rear-facing shooter, 1 GB of RAM, 4.8-inch screen, and 8 GB of native storage. As expected, it will run KitKat with TouchWiz on top of it. Even though the Samsung Galaxy A3 is no doubt lower-end than the Galaxy A5, it is powered by a Snapdragon 410 CPU, which is newer than the Snapdragon 400 unit found in the A5.
Here are the leaked Samsung Galaxy A5 photos I was talking about above. Are you digging Samsung’s new design philosophy? Please let us know in comments.
